This pattern is for peyote with a twist - not crochet.

You will need experience of working peyote as well as the peyote with a twist technique. This relatively new technique was devised by Gerlinde Lenz and lends itself to many beautiful patterns.

I've been wanting to make this for a long time. The natural way a pattern falls in peytwist is to wind around the tube as it is being made. It has taken quite a few hours to design a word going straight across the tube. It's not perfect, but given the nature of peytwist it looks fine and can plainly be seen when being worn.

I have used rainbow colours to design a pattern with joining hearts for friendship as they are cheerful. The word ''Friends'' is clearly on the front of the bangle and I have continued with the rainbow colours on the reverse. I've used Miyuki rondelles size 11 for my bracelet.

The pattern gives a length of just over 7" so with a clasp it fits my 6.5" wrist just right. If you need extra length you can just continue with the plain (in the example, white) part of the pattern and go back to the start to add a few more rows before levelling the ends to add your clasp.

The pattern is 11 beads circumference with a single column seam. I have used red, orange, yellow, green, navy blue, denim blue, purple and lilac for the hearts.
